SEAToday.com, Jakarta-On Wednesday (4/24), streaming giant Spotify announced that pop superstar Taylor Swift's new album, "The Tortured Poets Department," has achieved a historic feat. It's the first album in Spotify's history to surpass one billion streams within just five days of its release.

“Records smashed. History made. On April 22, 2024, THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a single week. And as of today, the album has surpassed 1 billion streams since release, the first in Spotify history,” Spotify declared in a statement.

Swift’s 11th studio album was released on Friday (4/19) at midnight local time. Initially, she released 16 new songs, including the lead single “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone. Just two hours later, fans were surprised with a bonus, an extended edition titled "The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology," featuring 15 additional songs.

Earlier on the same day, Swift’s “Fortnight (feat. Post Malone)” broke another record, becoming the most-streamed song in a single day on Spotify history with over 20 million streams.
