SEAToday.com, Jakarta - The legislative committee of the House of Representatives and the government have agreed that the governor and deputy governor of the Special Region of Jakarta (DKJ) will continue to be directly elected by the people through regional elections. The agreement was reached at a meeting of a working committee that discussed the draft of DKJ law on Monday (3/18).
Legislative Committee Chairman Supratman Andi Agtas said that candidates for governor and deputy governor would need to receive 50% + 1 votes to be declared as elected governor and deputy governor.
Previously, the committee of the DKJ bill agreed to change the requirements for the DKJ election to make the elected governor and deputy governor those with the most votes. In other words, it was not necessary to get 50% + 1 votes. (DHITA/ DKD)
